ResumoThe monoenergetic K-positon line from the 1 408 keV transition in 152Sm was sought using an intense 152Eu source in a double focussing spectrometer equipped with a cooled Si(Li) detector. It was realized that the edge of the internal pair positons from the 1 458 keV E1 transition was located close to the expected position of the positon line. The intensity of the K-positon line to that of the 1 408 keV gamma transition was determined as (3.1 ± 1.5) × 10-8. The retardation factor of this transition was estimated to be 550. απ/αK for the 1 408 keV transition was determined to be 0.37 ± 0.07 in agreement with the theoretical ratio for an E1 multipolarity. The end-point energies of the two beta branches was determined as 727 ± 3 and 479 ± 10 keV, with intensities of (1.1 ± 0.2) × 10-4 and (2.9 ± 0.5) × 10-5, respectively, giving a Q-value of 1 871 ± 3 keV.
