Resumo

The P K β emission and S K β emission spectra in fluorescence from many selected compounds, P 4 O 10 , KPF 6 , M 4 P 2 O 7 , M 2 SO 3 , M 2 SO 4 , MHSO 4 (M=Na and K), P 4 S n ( n =3, 5, 7 and 10), Na 2 S 2 O n ( n =3–7) and K 2 S 2 O n ( n =3, 5, 7 and 8), are measured with a high-resolution two-crystal vacuum spectrometer equipped with Ge(111) crystals. The measured K β emission spectra are discussed in relation to the fundamental structures of the compounds and interpreted in terms of available molecular-orbital calculations of the PF - 6 ion and sulfur oxo anions. It is shown that the emission spectra are strongly influenced by chemical environments around phosphorus and sulfur atoms in the compounds, but little affected by the metal ions Na + and K + .
