RIASSUNTOViene ulteriormente avvalorata l'ipotesi che le specie appartenenti alle famiglie Cionidae e Diazonidae vadano raccolte in una unica famiglia. La famiglia Perophoridae rimane, anche a livello cariologico, ben separata dalle altre famiglie e sembra sia da riconsiderare l'ipotesi di una sua primitività nell'ambito del sottordine Phlebobranchiata. Una stretta affinità cariologica viene individuata tra i generi Perophora ed Ecteinascidia.SUMMARYFrom a karyological point of view it seems reasonable to collect the species belonging to Cionidae and Diazonidae in a single family.The family Perophoridae appears well separated from all the other family of this suborder and because of the high chromosome numbers found in the species Perophora listeri and Ecteinascidia herdmani the hypothesis of their primitiviness is advanced. Perophora and Ecteinascidia seem to be karyologically very closely related.
