In this work we report the application of genetic algorithms to simulate this technique, using a knowledge-based system as the learner, in the domain of coronary artery disease diagnosis. The prototypical description of the disease employs fuzzy variables, as well as crisp ones. To evaluate the performance of the system, a similarity-triggered inference method is used over a diagnosed case-base. Results presented showing the efficiency of this approach, lead us to believe that this paradigm is useful for a wide range of applications.
