ResumoThe closing base wedge osteotomy remains a viable option in treating hallux valgus deformities with high intermetatarsal angles; however, the procedure can be technically difficult to perform and has been associated with a fair number of potential complications. As a result, a variety of osteotomies have been introduced and modified over the years that may serve as alternatives. Though all procedures possess complications, several of these alternatives do offer some significant advantages over the closing base wedge osteotomy.
