In this article, we discuss the fictional usage of the diary structure as a narrative formula that can be used to express both doubt and introspection, thereby allowing Augusto Abelaira, via his protagonist Arnaldo Cunha, the possibility of questioning not only the identity of the self, but also the design of History.
