ResumoSinglet oxegen (1Δg) produced by energy tansfer from triplet biacetyl was directly observed in a thermal lensing signal. The lifetime of singnet oxygen in methanol was determined to be 12± 2 μs and the quenching rate constant of 2,5-dimethyl-furan in methanol was measured to be (0.9 = 0.2) × 108 M− s−1.
