The article explores the correspondence of the Brazilian scientist Henrique da Rocha Lima with German friends after World War II. It intends to present how the letters record the perception of the collapse of the years immediately following the war and the dilemmas and contradictions of governments established by the victorious powers. Through this dialogue that unraveled the plots of that historical context, Henrique da Rocha Lima learned about and analyzed the development that led from famine and destruction in 1945 to a divided territory, each part submitted to the political and ideological regime of the two powers that began to strive for hegemony in world politics.Key words: Henrique da Rocha Lima, correspondence, Nazism, post-war period, cold war.
