The quantitative component of the study is a questionnaire survey of 1,028 Taiwanese migrants who settled in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The research was carried out by Professor Nora L-H Chiang of National Taiwan University and Associate Professor Richard Hsu of Taipei Municipal University of Education. Their generosity in sharing their research data is deeply appreciated. 2. The study was funded by Chiang Ching-Kuo Foundation for International Scholarly Exchange and the principal investigators in this project were Drs David Ip and Eric Chui of the School of Social Science, The University of Queensland, and Dr Ray Hibbins of the School of Leisure, Sports and Tourism and Hospitality Management at Griffith University. Special acknowledgment should go to Ms Julie Pang, research assistant for the study, for her enthusiasm and commitment in assisting with and managing the fieldwork as well as in translating and transcribing the interviews.
