ResumoThe preparation of biorecognition layers on the surface of a sensing platform is a very crucial step for the development of sensitive and selective biosensors. In their Full Paper on page 198 ff., Martin Pumera et al. compare the performance of three thrombin aptasensors using either physical, covalent, or affinity immobilization on graphene oxide surfaces. The graphene oxide layers are symbolized by the colorful sand deposits of the Antelope Canyon (Arizona, USA) at which an aptamer (pink) is immobilized and interacts with thrombin (blue).
