ResumoCombinatorial biocatalysis is an emerging technology in the field of drug discovery. The biocatalytic approach to combinatorial chemistry uses enzymatic, chemoenzymatic, and microbial transformations to generate libraries from lead compounds. Important recent advances in combinatorial biocatalysis include iterative derivatization of small molecules and complex natural products, regioselectively controlled libraries, novel one-pot library syntheses, process automation, and biocatalyst enhancements.
