Resumo

The sensitivity of ten recently-isolated strains of M. johnei and the H37Rv strain of M. tuberculosis to nine chemotherapeutic agents has been studied in vitro using a modification of Dubos's liquid medium. Generally speaking, the M. johnei strains were more resistant to the chemotherapeutic agents than was H37Rv. They were quite sensitive to streptomycin but were resistant to isonicotinic acid hydrazide, sodium para-aminosalicylate, sulphathiazole, sulphetrone, 4:41 diamino-diphenyl-sulphone, penicillin, chloramphenicol and terramycin.
