ResumoIntroduction:The use of ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic progenitor cells has been suggested as a possible means to accelerate the speed of engraftment in cord blood (CB) transplantation. Macrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha (MIP-1a) has been shown to have a role in the control of myeloid stem and progenitor cell proliferation. So the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of MIP-1a on ex vivo expansion of hematopoietic progenitor cells in different culture media for the propose of cord blood transplantation or gene therapy.
