ResumoThis article is about the historical development of the codification of Hungarian Private Law, mainly Civil Law. It shows not only the initial mixed influence of the Roman Law and the German Pandectists, but also their subsequent and gradual opening to other legal systems. The recurrent failures of this codification have had contextual political and economic reasons. Current private Law, due to the entry of Hungary into the European Union, has received the contemporary influences in its design.
