She received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering (1973) and an M.S. in Environmental (1975) at Middle East Technical University, Turkey, and an M.S. (1977) and Ph.D. (1980) in Environmental Science and Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is the recipient of 1980 AEEP/Nalco Award for Significant Chemical Research in Industrial Waste Treatment. She is editorial board member of the Ozone Science and Technology and a member of AIChE, AEEP, ACS-Env. Chem. Div., AWWA, WPCF and IOA. Some of her papers have been published in Ind. Eng. Chem. He has previous experience in water and wastewater treatment operations. Holden: was a graduate student and a research specialist in the Environmental Studies Institute at Drexel University at the time of this study. He is currently an Environmental Engineer for Versar Inc., Springfield, Virginia where he is involved in hazardous waste management studies, including evaluation of alternative treatment technologies and exposure-risk assessment. He has five years of previous experience in consulting for environmental impact assessments.
