Resumo

If second and third molar occlusion problems develop after removal of premolars and completion of orthodontic treatment, surgical repositioning offers a solution. Little sensory disturbance of inflammatory response has been observed, repositioned teeth remain vital, and ankylosis should not occur. Correct diagnosis and adequate treatment planning depend on close and continued consultation between the orthodontist and the oral surgeon.
