Three technical corings were carried out in the lignite-area of Gondiswil-Ufhusen (Swiss Plateau). Analyses of sediments revealed long pollen sequences of the vegetational history, covering the interval from the Late Rissian to the Middle Wurm. The complete interglacial sequence (Interglacial of Gondiswil) is followed by four Early Wurmian temperate cycles (interstadials) separated by phases of climatic deteriorations (stadials). The lignite-area of Gondiswil/Ufhusen is a reference site for the Younger Pleistocene of the Swiss Plateau.
