ResumoIt is suggested that the chemiluminescence from the thermal oxidation of polypropylene arises predominantly from the decomposition of associated hydroperoxides. Measurements of the chemiluminescence response to heating/cooling cycles applied to polypropylene oxidation in the induction period and in an advanced stage of the process is a novel approach to the extrapolation of the oxidation course to the lower temperature region.
