ResumoThe resistivity, Hall effect and thermoelectric power of the solid solution series Nd(Ba1−xNdx)2Cu3O7+δ, with x=0 to 0.25, have been studied. Although the average copper valence is nearly constant throughout the series, the transport properties show a strong dependence on x ranging from superconductivity with a Tc of 95 K at x=0 to an activated conduction at x=0.25. These observations are explained within a model where, depending on x, there is a variable distribution of holes between the CuO2 planes and other parts of the structure, most likely the CuO3 chains.
