ResumoNew Stenothoidae (Crustacea, Amphipoda, Gammaridae) from the Sublittoral of King George Island (South Shetland Islands) Some new species of stenothoid amphipods are described, namely, Metopoides macromanus, M. foliodactylus, M. andresi, M. lanceolatus, M. latus, M. serratus, M. angustus, M. leptomanus , and Prometopa edentata . The studies are mainly based on material collected during investigations of the sublittoral of Fildes Peninsula (south‐western part of King George Island, South Shetland Islands, Antarctica). The crustaceans were obtained by freediving techniques and by use of conventional bottom‐sampling equipment. Most of the animals were found in depths between 10 and 60 m. They live in populations of low density on areas influenced by the rather violent tidal current in the Fildes Strait between King George Island and Nelson Island. – Proboloides antarcticus W ALKER , 1906 is redescribed and transferred into the genus Metopoides D ELLA V ALLE , 1893. A lectotype for this species is selected from the type material held in the British Museum (Nat. Hist.), London.
