He graduated from the Moscow State University as a radiochemist in 1965. His postgraduate studies were carried out in the mass spectrometry laboratories of the M.M. Shemyakin Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences, and he was awarded the degree of PhD for defence of his Thesis entitled the substitution effect in the decomposition of molecular ions of some aromatic and heteroaromatic compounds’. He joined the A. N. Nesmeyanov Institute of Organo- Element Compounds of the USSR Academy of Sciences in 1971. He was Head of the mass spectrometry group from 1971 to 1986, and took up his present position as Head of the Laboratory of Mechanisms of Chemical Reactions in 1986. He was awarded the degree of DSc in 1983 for his Thesis entitled ‘chemistry of ions of transition metal π-complexes in the gas phase-. He has published over 250 scientific papers including six reviews. His major fields of interest are the chemistry of organometallic ions in the gas phase in comparison with the chemistry of organometallics in the condensed phase, mass spectrometry of organometallic compounds, and computer treatment and interpretation of mass spectral information.Search for more papers by this authorV.
