Geological and archaeological investigations, carried out on the North Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein have yielded new evidence relating to sea level variations during the last 3 ka. In the area of Dithmarschen two transgressions of the sea occurred between 3 and 2 ka BP. In the area of the North-Frisian Islands trends of sea level change since 2 ka BP have been documented.
