ResumoDuring a preliminary survey of the diatoms from the Peruvian hot spring of La Calera (Colca Canyon, Peru), several new species were found: Navicula cadeei sp. nov., Ulnaria colcae sp. nov., Cymbella comperei sp. nov. and Denticula thermaloides sp. nov. Based on detailed light and scanning electron microscopic analysis, it is clear that these four species can distinctly be separated from other similar taxa. The paper presents morphologic details for the four new species and discusses their taxonomic position and characteristic features.
