The Fifty-first Annual Meeting of the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association was held at the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach Hotel in Cancun, Mexico, November 4–6, 2004. The President was D. Glenn Pennington, MD (Johnson City, TN). Officers elected for 2005 are: President, Irving L. Kron, MD (Charlottesville, VA); President-Elect, Ross Ungerleider, MD (Portland, OR); and Vice President, Joseph Coselli, MD (Houston, TX). Seiler, MD Resident Award was presented to Brian T. Bethea, MD for his paper and presentation entitled, “Results of Aortic Valve-Sparing Operations: Experience With the Remodeling and Reimplantation Procedures in 65 Patients.”The Fifty-second Annual Meeting will be held at the Disney Yacht and Beach Club in Orlando, Florida, November 10-12, 2005. Co-Chairs of the 2005 Program Committee are Daniel L. Miller, MD, and David H. Harpole, Jr, MD. Co-Chairs of the 2005 Postgraduate Committee are Robert J. Cerfolio, MD, and David R. Jones, MD.
