Resumo

A persistent rosacea-like rash affected the face of a 61-year-old Japanese man. The eruption began in early life with redness of the forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose. There are small follicular papules, scaly nodules, and depressed scars on the trunk and limbs. The microscopic features are irregular acanthosis of the epidermis and the presence of multiple epidermal cysts. There is a peculiar branching proliferation of basal cells from the underside of the epidermis and the pilosebaceous apparatus. A family history revealed that 15 members of his family have had the same sort of skin lesions since childhood.
