Resumo

Getting network security right could be regarded as something of a marathon rather than a sprint. But increasingly, as bandwidth becomes more readily available, latency becomes less acceptable and user and management expectations rise, developers are having to run faster just to keep up with the pace. While security is critical, it must not be allowed to hamper network performance and productivity. Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances have become popular. The issue is that UTMs must continue to match expectations. For UTM developers, keeping up with user demands and competition is an endless race and the rate of change continues to accelerate. Thorsten Kurpjuhn of ZyXEL looks at current developments and trends around UTM appliances.
