ResumoAbstract A survey was conducted to provide an overview of dental radiography in Australia as practised by private general dental practitioners. There was a response of 77 per cent from the 1419 dentists who were sent questionnaires. Data are presented on how the survey was conducted, response by State or Territory, education details of respondents, special interest areas of respondents and reasons for retaking radiographs. Possible sources of bias in the results are also discussed. The two most common reasons given for retaking radiographs were processing errors (33.4 per cent) and incorrect technique (27.7 per cent).
