ResumoMandelbrot and colleagues (March 22, p 850)1 raise the important issue of reproductive assistance for HIV-discordant couples who want to have a child. They report that out of 95 couples in whom the man was HIV-positive and the woman uninfected, two women seroconverted 7 months after conception and two seroconverted in the postpartum period. Their findings indicate a risk of sexual transmission that is similar to the crude risk of infection documented in partners' studies.2,3
