Resumo

The laser Raman spectra of chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, trans-1,2-dichloroethylene, tetrachloroethylene, tetramethylethylene, tert-butyl cyanide, benzene and cyclohexane adsorbed on silica surfaces have been recorded. The Raman shifts of the adsorbed molecules do not significantly deviate from those of the liquids and the Raman selection rules are not violated by the adsorption. The relative intensities of the Raman bands of adsorbed species are distinct from those of the liquids. Reasons for these intensity changes on adsorption are discussed. The surface electric field is found to be an important factor.
