ResumoWe read with interest the article on the value of ultrasonography as a screening test for intestinal malrotation by Orzech et al [ [1] Orzech N. Navarro O.M. Langer J.C. Is ultrasonography a good screening test for intestinal malrotation?. J Pediatr Surg. 2006; 41: 1005-1009 Abstract Full Text Full Text PDF PubMed Scopus (106) Google Scholar ]. We would like to seek clarification for the interpretation the of upper gastrointestinal series contrast study used. In the methods section, the authors state clearly that "[a] normal upper gastrointestinal series was defined by an orthotopic duodenojejunal junction otherwise the study was considered abnormal"; so, the basis for "normality" was the position of the DJ flexure, and we agree that this is the currently accepted gold standard test for the exclusion of malrotation [ [2] Applegate K.E.
