Resumo

Almost 12 years ago, BI&T featured a cover story that profiled four professionals on the frontlines of healthcare technology, looking at the challenges and changes of the field through their eyes. The boxed photographs on the cover prompted one of our subjects to joke that it reminded him of the colorful opening sequence of the iconic TV show “The Brady Bunch.”In looking at the cover of this issue's cover image, you'll see that we've returned to those same four professionals. Yes, it's a reunion of sorts for “The Brady Bunch.”All kidding aside, these BI&T “series regulars” are far more interesting than what you'd find on Nick at Nite. There's a clinical engineer who rose through the ranks and blazed a new trail for women, becoming a top corporate executive for one of the nation's leading healthcare providers. There's a professor whose passion for healthcare technology and commitment to his students is making a huge difference in the grooming of the next generation of HTM professionals. There's a biomedical equipment technician who saw the rise of information technology and has met that challenge head on. And there's a biomedical engineering manager who has advanced through his career to take control of a portfolio that reflects the interdisciplinary nature of modern healthcare. The details of their stories vary, but there is one common refrain: All four of these professionals saw that healthcare technology was changing and continues to change, and they have embraced that fact as a challenge to conquer, not an obstacle to avoid.Their stories ought to serve as an inspiration, even a roadmap, for others in the healthcare technology community. Don't be surprised if there's another reunion down the road. Said one of our subjects: “This field is nothing but change.”
