Resumo

A new design of high resolution, variable geometry, pulsed supersonic molecular beam photofragment spectrometer is presented and its advantages over a perpendicular design are discussed. A detailed analysis of the centre-of-mass-laboratory kinematic transformations for arbitrary geometry is provided for a general centre-of-mass velocity distribution and for the specialised case of a delta -function approximation. A technique for determining the optimum experimental geometry is also provided.
