ResumoJT-60SA (JT-60 Super Advanced) aims to perform the ITER-support and ITER supplement research with the collaboration between Japan and EU. The power and the controllability of heating and current drive system (total power of 41 MW, co- and counter injection of NB, two-frequency of EC) are extended towards the operational capability of high density and high plasma current. Plasma performances of JT-60SA are investigated on the view point of contribution to ITER and DEMO. Large flexibility in the aspect ratio (A ≥ 2.6) and the plasma shape (shape parameter S = 2–7) ensures the parameter optimization to investigate the physics issues towards DEMO. Those aspects strongly support the validity of the present facility design and the direction of the high heating and current drive power.
