ResumoThe TATA-box-binding protein, first noted for its association with the general transcription factor TFIID, has recently been shown to be required for transcription by all three classes of nuclear RNA polymerase found in eukaryotes. As such, it plays a unique and pivotal role in gene expression in higher organisms.
