ResumoAbstract Kinetics of the dissociation of ethy1 N-hydroxymethylcarbamate, and monomethylolethylcarbamate (MMEC) at various temperatures and pH values have been studied by measuring the formaldehyde concentration in solution via an electrochemical technique. Formaldehyde and ethyl carbamate (EC) are the products of the dissociation. Formaldehyde concentration as a function of time has been used in a computer program designed to calculate the rate constant, kf, for the formation of MMEC form formaldehyde and EC and the rate constant, kr, for the dissociation of MMEC.
