ResumoWe report a detailed summary of the scientific meeting held in March, 1996, to honor Albert Whitford on the occasion of his 90th birthday. We give a desription of his life and scientific accomplishments followed by a report on the research presented in the meeting, mostly concerning the Galactic bulge.
