Summary 1.Four recurrent attacks of meningitisare a great rarity. 2.One of the four attacks revealedpneumococci, type undetermined, on spinal fluid culture. The other three showed three different types of pneumococci (6, 19, and 21). 3.The first attack followed a headinjury, but it was never discovered whether this resulted in a permanent atrium of infection. 4.Finally, a fourth attack of meningitisoccurred in spite of the attempt at immunization with type-specific polysaccharides not including the antigen of the causative organism in the last attack.
