Resumo

This research shows the relationship between rainfall and altitude in the area located between the Tietê River's Valley and the Mantiqueira's Escarpment in São Paulo State, Brazil. In this analysis, a Digital Terrain Model (DTM) was created by using the software Surfer, which interpolated data of rainfall and altitude. The data and maps evaluated reveal the influence of the orography over the precipitation in the local, mainly during the periods witch register higher amounts of precipitation.
