Iris Cheney, Catalogue of Preparatory Drawings Related to the Mid-sixteenth Century Decorations in Palazzo Farnese, p. 791-820. Few preparatory drawings can be associated with the fresco cycles by Daniele da Volterra and Francesco Salviati for Palazzo Farnese. There is a sketch for Daniele's Destruction of Pentheus in the Albertina, and studies for details of Salviati's frescoes in the Sala dei Fasti Farnesiani may be found at Lille and in the Pierpont Morgan Library, New York. A larger number of drawings has been identified for the paintings by Taddeo and Federico Zuccaro and the Zuccaro shop for the end walls of the Sala dei Fasti Farnesiani. These include studies for the major and minor historical scenes and for the allegorical figures. These are widely scattered through European and American collections.
