Resumo

A theoretical analysis is carried out to estimate the performance of a fibre optic sensor based on long-range surface plasmon resonance (LRSPR). The performance is evaluated in terms of the sensitivity of the sensor. The results are compared with those for a conventional surface plasmon resonance (SPR) based fibre optic sensor. It is shown that a sensor based on LRSPR has a better sensitivity as compared to a conventional SPR sensor. Its drawback is the higher value of full width at half-minimum (FWHM) of the SPR spectrum.
