ResumoIn the course of a preliminary study of xiphidioccrcariae from Goniobasis livescens Menke (1830) collected from the Huron River near Ann Arbor, Michigan, it was lnoted that the cercariae could be divided into two groups by the presence or absencc of a virgula. About teni species of virgulate cercariae were distinguished and, at the suggestion of Professor G. R. LaRue, a further study of the virgula, a peculiarly shaped organ lving within the oral suckers of the cercariae was undertaken.
