He studied chemistry at the University of Mainz. Since 1964 he has been in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at Boehringer Ingelheim KG, first as a leader of a research laboratory and later as the head of a chemical research group. He has worked intensively on the synthesis and development of diazepines including brotizolam. During a sabbatical at the National Institutes of Health in 1982, he worked on the biochemical actions of central active diazepines. Since 1983, when the platelet activating factor antagonistic activity of hetrazepines was found, his work has focused on this new research field.Search for more papers by this authorHubert O. Heuer: was born in Bramsche (Osnabrück), Federal Republic of Germany in 1957. He studied pharmacy and medicine at the Philipps-University of Marburg. He did his medical thesis on the pharmacology of cerebral hypoxia at the Institute of Pharmacology and Toxicology in the Faculty of Pharmacy in Marburg (Prof. J. Krieglstein). In 1984 he joined Behringwerke AG in Marburg and worked in the coagulation field. Since 1986 he has been with Boehringer Ingelheim KG, Department of Pharmacology and has mainly worked on the pharmacology of hetrazepinoic platelet activating factor antagonists.Search for more papers by this author Karl Heinz Weber, Karl Heinz Weber Departments of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacology Boehringer Ingelheim KG, D-6507 Ingelheim am Rhein, Federal Republic of Germany Karl Heinz Weber: was born in Bingen, Germany in 1931.
