ResumoAbstract : Classification of the community territories in central Andean slopes. The territory of peasant communities, terraced on the western slope of the central Andes, between altitudes of 1000 and 5000 m, is limitating the type and quantity of available resources. On the basis of the production zones defined by Mayer and applied to the range land, 22 communities of the high Canete (Yauyos province, Lima, Peru) have been classified in 6 groups by their production zone combination. This typology is discussed with a principal component analysis (PCA), which includes population, activities, production zone areas and livestock sizes. The 32 communities of the high watershed are then classified in these 6 groups, using the minimum altitude of the community territory and the village altitude. The communities that don't fit with this classification are in transition towards milk and particularly fruit production. In this mountainous slopped area, the combination of production zones is the minimum data set, which allows to identify agrarian systems.
