ResumoDuring pregnancy the female body undergoes many hormonal and anatomic changes that affect the musculoskeletal system. These changes may cause various musculoskeletal complaints, predispose to injury, or alter the course of preexisting conditions. The changes of pregnancy should be taken into account when counseling women who wish to exercise through their pregnancy. Treatment of musculoskeletal complaints during pregnancy must include the potential effects on mother and fetus.
