Resumo

Hesiod forerunner of Greek cosmogonies of the evolutionary type As long as the renewal ritual peculiar to all creation myths persisted, it was impossible to escape from a mythical and circular time which implied an eternal recurrence of the same events. In comparing Hesiod's "Theogony" with the "Enuma Elish" myth, one notices that in Hesiod for the first time, the events unfold in a linear time and sequence, that which renders possible the disappearance of the renewal ritual. By that, Hesiod is the forerunner of the evolutionary cosmogonies of the Presocratics.
