ResumoThree groups of altogether 65 subjects were instructed to estimate, in three experiments, a total number of 30 different inter-city distances with Stockholm as the center. In another part of the experiments the same subjects estimated the degree of emotional involvement which they would experience in things happening in the various cities. Emotional involvement was found to be inversely proportional to the square root of subjective distance, when other variables were kept constant, and the result of a previous study by Ekman and Bratfisch is thus further confirmed.
