In methods for the determination of traces of iodine depending on extraction with chloroform or carbon tetrachloride, the sensitivity may be very greatly increased by adding some alcoholic potassium iodide to the extract and measuring the extinction of the resulting solution of periodide at 360 mμ. The nature of the complex is briefly discussed. La sensibilité des méthodes de détermination de traces d'iode, par extraction à l'aide de chloroforme ou de tétrachlorure de carbon, peut être considérablement augmentée par addition d'une solution alcoolique d'iodure de potassium. L'extinction de cette solution de polyiodure est mesurée à 360 mμ. La nature du complexe est brièvement étudiée. Die Empfindlichkeit der Methoden zur Bestimmung von Jodspuren durch Extraktion mit Chloroform oder Tetrachlorkohlenstoff kann sehr erhöht werden, wenn man dem Extrakt etwas alkoholische Kaliumjodidlösung zusetzt und die Extinktion der so erhaltenen Lösung bei 360 mμ misst. Die Natur des gebildeten Komplexes wird kurz erörtert.
