Resumo

The kinetics of the Cu(II) Cu(I) couple are strongly dependent on electrode pretreatment, reminiscent of many observations in aqueous solutions. Reproducible results were obtained by first cycling the electrode between +1.5 and −1.5 V vs. Ag+ (0.01 M)/Ag. A non-linear Gaussian least-squares formalism was utilized for the estimation of electron transfer parameters from quasi-reversible and totally irreversible chronopotentiometric data. The influence of double-layer charging on the calculated kinetic parameters is discussed.
