Resumo

A procedure for the simulation of ESR spectral line shapes under alternating linewidth conditions has been developed. This procedure was used to calculate the secular contributions to the various hypefine components of the benzene anion radical for the hyperfine modulation model proposed by McConnell and McLachlan as a function of modulation frequency. The conclusion is reached that this model cannot explain the large linewidths but that it may explain the enhanced spin-lattice relaxation observed in the benzene anion radical.
