He was a member of the Gay Left collective, and together with Keith Alcorn and Chris Woods he was a founder of OutRage in 1990. He is the author of several books, the most recent of which is Practices Of Freedom: Selected Writings On HIV/AIDS (London: Rivers Oram Press, 1994).
